How two founders spotted the opportunity in the 'Zoom boom' and started an online business during quarantine that generated $32,000 in 5 weeks

Event planners Jared Reichert and Robbie Zweig were based in New York City but decided to quarantine together in Palm Springs, California during the coronavirus pandemic. As events were cancelled or postponed, they quickly realized their industry was not going to return to normal for a while.

"You can create that same amount of excitement by connecting people virtually online," Reichert said. The founders put the initial costs into a spreadsheet, then reached out to friends and industry contacts to substitute high-end pieces for lower price points, without sacrificing quality. They shifted from crystal drinkware to glass. Instead of a premium candle from Canada, they went with a mid-tier luxury candle from a local business.

Collaborations so far include virtual events with a vineyard in Long Island and fleece company Dudley Stephens.

Are you really a “founder” when you start a business like this to make some quick cash hustling in a trend? I mean good for them, for cashing in but I don’t think this is the next big dot com.
