Patti LuPone jokes about getting hit with roses at ‘Company’ curtain call

Patti LuPone got hit over the head with gratitude — literally — after an outstanding performance of her new Broadway musical, “Company.”Wednesday by one of the show’s stars, Claybourne Elder, showed an audience member threw a bouquet of roses at Lupone’s head when she took a bow at curtain call.The 72-year-old first appeared to be in shock but then laughed off the flowery blunder.

LuPone exclusively tells Page Six that any attention the video of the incident gets should be to give others “a good laugh.” Patti LuPone seemed to take the rose-throwing in stride after she was hit in the head at curtain call.Broadway actress Amber Iman commented, “I really need to know what kinda savage, raised by wolves, is carrying around LOOSE roses…to throw… at Pattiiiiiiii… 🥴😂🥴😂.”A third wrote, “BAHAHAHA!!!! I’m cackling!”, throwing roses at an artist after a performance is actually a big compliment.
