Francois-Philippe Champagne will meet with telecom leaders to discuss the importance of improving 'the reliability of the networks across Canada.'

While the outage is very concerning. I think the minister should get his own house in order before calling out another.

Feds should be proactive and impose regulations to protect pubblic and institutions ,instead as usual we are at their mercy until another outage strikes again(or worse).

is not reporting why a pioneer in Telecommunications, Canada, has only two major companies controlling the market and juggling deals between them under the blessings of the biggest corrupted entity, the CRTC. Does anyone still doubt the magnitude of bribes going to CRTC?

govt loves monopolies and won't do anything

I got a 6 pak of 🍺 says there is going to be an other liberal task force like the one put together for the passport fiasco.

As much as it is bad. I really hope nothing goes wrong with your company. We all try. Then i can sue you too.

Disallow the merger between Rogers and Shaw!

Im doing a survey: Do you plan on leaving Rogers wireless for another company?:

Maybe Justin will blame “systemic racism” and call for “reconciliation.”

Fourth day without internet service. A 'vast majority' of customers haven't gotten their service back. Don't believe whatever Rogers is telling everyone in their press release or apologies. rogersoutrage

It was not only Friday is still going 4 days with out service. And Rogers refuse to come clean and said what really happened. RogersHelps for sure a 'update haywire in the core' is not a real excuse. CBCOttawa rogersoutage

The Minister is out of his depth, totally ineffectual. All Government Parties have been bought and paid for by Rogers

But the problem doesn't just lie with Rogers. If majority of our banking systems and government services are hooked up to the Rogers network the government has also failed its citizens because the government trusted just one company to have all network business done with them. 😡

Enjoy life as 4th-world nation in internet and cell usage

why does Liberal babbleloney saay unacceptable likeits a magic cure no it wasnt russians no it wasnt a huge solar flare no it wasnt covid transmogrifying into electron monster variant its just us humans doing stuff

The perks of being with Rogers throughout the years has dwindled. After this outage it will make long running Rogers customers with no strings attached to look elsewhere. Unexceptionable. Hey Bell? What deals you got?

You go, Francois! And tell Rogers to give me more than a one day bill credit.

So what? The corporatocracy will not change an iota. Monopolies will always prevail in Canada, until such time that our current political system is completely overhauled.

End of the globalists monopoly

Rogers honeytraps its customers by providing bundle discounts. Now the customers gets screwed when rogersoutage happens. Time to dismantle the bundling strategy and provide more options to customers.

Where is the Backup plan, and the Backup to the Backup ? Never should of happened

footage was just released of our govt responding to Rogers:

If Minister FP_Champagne wants better service from telecom companies, he should create a Telecom Consumer Organization using method recommended by CRTC years ago (will cost government almost nothing & telecom companies nothing) tylerxgriffin

The outage was one thing, but the service is still terrible. TV is awful, lags, loses sound, Internet is brutal. So yeah, it’s not down, but seems like it working at 25%.

Sounds like nothing will happen. No trust in the liberals at all.

And the excuse said it was a malfunction on an update is ridiculous! If it was an update issue would you not notify the public immediately unless of course it was something nefarious that the federal government had to be consulted before an explanation was given

Enjoy communism

Tough words.

Class action lawsuit!

🦅

artipatel lol

Remember: Rogers lobbyists own the liberal government

Because the federal government is a shining example of what good looks like… Federal public service employees (and the associated tax burden) have skyrocketed yet somehow the service to Canadians has plummeted…

This liberal government is the most corrupt government in living memory so what do you really expect. Honesty out of a liberal, Keep dreaming.

To pay them handsomely for stopping people to have access to their cash

The industry minister should be telling Canadians what exactly will be in place to increase competition and remove this monopoly called Rogers

The industry minister will do nothing . It’s just deceiving you into believing Trudeau cares Don’t buy into this . It’s just for show Trudeau has had 8 years to increase competition and done nothing about it He’s busy virtue signaling & being woke

This is why I’ll never support a digital currency or cash less system

Incompetent government ministers should not be passing judgement

YVESPELLETIER44 More theater, what the Trudeau Government does best.

More bailouts and price increases in the future.

Right..Meet.. What Does that even mean. What is the plan..What does from the meeting. Will Canadians even be informed. Or will we just hear ' they had positive discussions around how to fix this'?

Good virtue signaling on the part of the industry minister. Will any Grey Poupon be served with the hors d'oeuvres?

We need action and not words. Canada needs to increase competition amongst our wireless network companies, end the oligopoly, utilize the CRTC to better protect consumers, lower rates and penalize companies like Rogers accordingly.

Bring on competition. Skip the bribe meetings.

BlockRogersShaw

'Discuss the importance'. We know the importance.Tell them to fix it and monitor their compliance. Enough punting.

improving reliability oh yea, sure!

& how about making it affordable for Canadians! Monopolies are never a good thing, see the impact, with no choices.

Do t allow merger and let’s get it straight this time ! We want lower fees like other countries and it’s a RIP OFF on everyone in Canada!

Trudeau Govt Sleeping with Big 3

Simple fix: demand agreement to permit “roaming” to another Canadian network in the event of primary outage. Build into the VoIP (internet) system the same capability. Also it is time to permit more competition in our market. Not just a sharing of current infrastructure either.

One word. Diversification! (IE need to stop Canadianisation, protectionism and over reliance in one or two nights companies)

one or two million an hour fine for outages should help, they made billions in profits...by cuts to their service team.

Effit...make intenet a utility, Essen service and provide all with the fastest most reliable service available, nothing to be afraid of other than fast communication in the community...wait...😏

If the minister was serious, the government would allow real competition.

Minister of government that has developed an unsolvable passport backlog to meet with CEO about unforgivable network outage.

yaaaassssssssssss... 📞☎️📱 📢 backup systems, always. In particular with banking. ✨👍🇨🇦

That’ll just make everything fantastic

Atop putting all the eggs in the same basket. The selling of MTS to bell wasn’t happy. Some stuff fate shouldn’t be decided on money, but on strategic relevance.

Rogers Canada Was Hacked i had reported a vulnerability in their servers by Thursday Night but Canadian People are Being Lied by media and Rogers i got all proofs

Shareholders come first! Customers pay...

Reduce the phone bills too

With the volume of profits seen by the telecom providers there is no reason other than corporate greed that the infrastructure everywhere isn’t better quality (and not just improved in large cities), that plans aren’t cheaper, and that services are lack lustre to begin with.

Wow, now that the liberals are getting involved I’m sure it will be all corrected right away! 🙄 I see a PM foto op in the near future

no shi...t

Oh.

It’s not that they’re unreliable, it’s that they’ve formed a rapacious cabal and strangled competition so that we pay the highest rates in the world. That’s the problem, clearly.

Hot air

Just add 2 or 3 more companies. That's what Canada and the Canadiens need urgently. This will improve services and the current high cost.

Until the CRTC opens up competition, this meeting is nothing more than the minister keeping his name relevant in the media, which both companies own a portion of 🤦‍♂️

Blaming this on a maintenance update, same as last year. This concerns me greatly. If routine maintenance updates cause this level of disruption it’s an indicator that you have the wrong people working on it.

Improving the reliability is Canadian telecommunication infrastructure can only be achieved through competition FP_Champagne CRTCeng . Baffling you still haven’t figured this out

Too little too late. Does Roger's make money?

How about the prices while you’ve got the time now?

Whoop dee do. What a useless meeting. A complete joke. Lip service!!!

Or maybe figure out how they can get Rogers to spy on us
