After 27 years, the Renault Megane will no longer be made in right-hand drive. It will however still be produced in left-hand drive forms for another two years for some global markets

has bowed out of production for the UK after 27 years and four generations, Autocar has learned, leaving behind the new electric hatchback of the same name. and went on sale the following summer. It was available in traditional five-door hatchback, estate and – outside the UK – saloon bodystyles - which will continue to be produced in left-hand-drive forms for roughly another two years for various global markets.

Made in Spain and Turkey, it also spawned the firm's final performance car to bear the RenaultSport badge, before that division was rebranded as Alpine. The

Including the just released ev?...

had a very early shaking my arse megane from new. Nice to drive but anything over 40mph and the sunroof would make a racket. Renault couldn't give a hoot. Never again a Renault.

Shame but inevitable, the EV has just come out so the ICE wasn’t going to last, why continue making it for a niche market when there’s no money in it. Ford have announced they’re axing the Focus in 2 years time too, but they don’t have an EV replacement yet unlike Renault.

To be fair, if they didn't fall apart and regularly go wrong I would have carried on buying Meganes.
