Toyota Motor North America’s executive vice president of sales says that there simply isn’t enough consumer demand for the mass adoption of electric vehicles in the United States.

Speaking during a webinar hosted by the Automotive Press Association, Jack Hollis noted that battery electric vehicles remain too expensive and that the charging infrastructure simply isn’t ready for mass adoption. “I don’t think the market is ready,” Hollis said. “I don’t think the infrastructure is ready. And even if you were ready to purchase one, and if you could afford it … they’re still too high.”
