Leeds German Christmas market cancelled for third year

Leeds German Christmas market will not be running this year, the council has confirmed.

In a statement, the authority said: "The German Christmas Market has not been held in Leeds since 2019.

Time to say auf wiedersehen then?

There is a indoor ice rink opposite Elland Road . So why have another one ?!

What a shame - no real reason when other cities are still holding them.

Not like they announced that there ice rink been put there during same time x

Should be replaced with a good old fashioned British market. 'Five lighters for a pound' & 2 for 1 hoover bags, that sort of thing.

Leeds City Council blamed the closure on the aftermath of the pandemic and rising travel and work visa costs. They said: 'It was mutually agreed with our friends in Frankfurt that it was no longer feasible to bring the German market back to Leeds.'

Bonfire fireworks cancelled and now the German Christmas market 😔. It’s like every thing that brings tiny pockets of joy is being cancelled.
