Two Major League Baseball teams are expected to take legal action against the city of Glendale over a dispute with the Camelback Ranch Glendale facility, one of the region's Cactus League spring training complexes.
"We also anticipate that the Los Angeles Dodgers will also be part of these legal proceedings," Phelps said during the meeting.against the city but that the Dodgers had not yet joined the action. Attorneys for the team said MLB requires female locker rooms for all clubs, including spring training facilities, and that Glendale is violating another agreement by not providing these at Camelback Ranch, the 12News report said.
"The city borrowed $200 million to build the facility, including the construction, outfitting all the equipment within the facility and stabilize it for bond payments," he said during the meeting."The city entered into a 25-year lease. Each team pays $1 per year to the city, the city gets $50 in lease payments.
Phelps said he was"disappointed and discouraged" that the legal proceedings are moving forward against the city, which he said has also denied requests from the teams during the past two years including the replacement of $250 chairs and locker rooms, two white boards for $2,400 and a damaged phone.
