This CEO is breaking down hiring barriers. Here's his advice.

surveys the current hiring landscape, he sees a mix of opportunities and barriers.of OneTen, a national initiative that aims to hire, promote and advance 1 million Black individuals who do not have a four-year degree into family-sustaining careers over the next 10 years.while continuing to make the same mistakes they've made for years: Looking in the same places for talent. Putting up artificial barriers like degree requirements. Failing to develop talent within their own organization.

It only gets closed through intentionality, right? That's why OneTen is unambiguously focused on Black talent without four-year degrees, because you have to do both a skills-first approach and you have to maintain the intentionality to make sure that Black talent gets the attention they need for their particular circumstances.

When you have the CEO leadership guiding this, we've seen that the companies have made tremendous progress. Frankly, people also aren't left paying a premium for a credential that may be completely unrelated. What we're seeing is there is a bunch of Black talent already in the companies. But the majority of them are in frontline jobs and have been for years.
