In Brief: Nobel Prize winner CarolynBertozzi has founded at least eight biotech companies since 2000 to translate her work in bioorthogonal chemistry into new therapeutics and diagnostics

that characterized lysosome-targeting chimeras, or LYTACs.

This new class of molecules bind both the extracellular domain of a target protein and a cell-surface receptor involved in the lysosomal degradation pathway. In the presence of a LYTAC, the activated M6PR tags and drags the target protein to its degradation.
