The department of mineral resources and energy has rejected Eskom's application for a diesel wholesale licence. | News24_Business

The department of mineral resources and energy has rejected Eskom's application for a diesel wholesale licence.

Eskom applied for the licence to import its own fuel so that it could buy diesel at the basic fuel price – instead of the wholesale price. This would reduce the price from about R23 per litre to around R16, according to outgoing CEO André de Ruyter.

In a statement on Thursday, the DMRE said that to import petroleum products directly, Eskom would need a licence including import infrastructure and adequate storage facilities which they currently do not have. "The DMRE confirms that Eskom has applied for the diesel wholesale licencse , however it was not awarded since the application did not meet certain requirements, the details of which have been shared with Eskom as the applicant."

_Business The loadsheding won't stop because greedy white people like the one so called Venter steal coal that is supposed to go to Eskom dump them in his yard and sell them again to Eskom so there are so many scandal from top dogs that is why we are having problem of loadsheding

_Business Why , if it can cave billions ? Somebody has their hand in the cookie jar …. 🤷‍♀️

_Business Inflation being driven my electricity tariff increases, which in turn are driven by Eskom_SA tax & interest payments. SAReserveBank is mandated to reduce inflation & can reduce this cost push inflation by lending to Eskom & TreasuryRSA at lower rates.

_Business Corruption ANC will never give that R6 an excemption, they don't leave anything from the feeding trough.

_Business Yah because Mantashe wants some of the action!

_Business Eskom should reapply until they fulfil all the requirements. If it’s simply a matter of missing requirements, then reapply. The system can’t reject their application forever.

_Business uMantashe uyadakwa

boetyy _Business Now we need NERSA to tell Eskom to go to Hell on their 32% electricity increase application and only give them 9% inflation related increase That's IT! Finish and klaar😠

_Business Reasons please GwedeMantashe1. Why would the Minister refuse a SoE a diesel wholesale licence, when this would reduce its costs? Unless the rumours are true, destroy ESKOM.

_Business Too many cadres in the diesel value chain.

_Business Once again CyrilRamaphosa is choosing his cadres above South Africans. Time to vote this corrupt cabal out

_Business We all know why this is so, don't we?

_Business Find the middle man

_Business GwedeMantashe1

_Business I just forgot the right rule but shouldn't they be exempt from certain taxes since procurement is for manufacturing purposes? Also as government that should be scrapped to ensure the best cost efficient outcome to manage loadshedding

_Business Minister and his family has a finger in the pie somewhere and THAT is why he made sure he got rid of De Ryter

_Business Make it make sense please anyone..

_Business ANC is hell bent in destroying SA.... Cannot fathom a reason to do this. Surely we have a way of managing corrupt middle men in this case. Give it to treasury to manage. FFS the country is burning

_Business Good

_Business The question now is, who is Mantashe protecting by forcing Eskom to buy diesel at a higher price?

_Business There has to be more behind this... like someone's cash cow will dry up should this license be granted...

TheCouncilWolf _Business Why

_Business Yep!!! Can’t cut the middleman out!!! Viva ANC! Keeping feeding trough open for as long as possible!

_Business Now we know who is behind the sabotage and looting ant ESKOM.

_Business What was Eskom's response to the statement by DMRE, or did it not occur to News24 to ask?

_Business Here is another opportunity to collaborate going to waste because of egos and potential corruption. These two should be working together to ensure we benefit. If Eskom needs help DMR should provide without hesitation and not tell us about relevant authorities and criteria not met

_Business This country is led by 💩

_Business Our blood boils helplessly!ANC wants to destroy everythingbefore they are kicked out!

_Business Why would the DMRE make this decision unless it is to prop up the corrupt middleman system.

_Business Get rid of the slob Gwede, and see how quick Eskoms fortunes will change. That 👹is deliberately sabotaging eskom from inferior coal to running a diesel distribution mafia...

_Business Probably we’re not offered a cut OR the current supplier/s is involved and stands to lose the billions they’re making out of overinflated costs!!

_Business The own goals keep scoring themselves

_Business I'm guessing there was no cadre commission payable 🤔

_Business The government is 100% correct. That plan to import diesel from the West or western allied countries must be rejected from the outset. Even the US has serious central control in many quarters. Ramaphosa's handlers have failed this time around. Good move

_Business This headline is misleading, you are spreading misinformation

_Business WHY?

_Business I wonder why did they Rejected the Application?

_Business Why? Why can Eskom not import its own diesel

_Business The department is technically promoting the diesel mafia operations

_Business Why is ESKOM paying the fuel levy tax and road accident fund levy when they are running generators? Clearly that is daft. To save the economy we need a reliable and cheap supply of electricity. The government should immediately scrap these taxes.

_Business Why ?

_Business Eskom.should just apply for simple license with no need for storage etc....when.you apply for need for storage it complicate the whole application Eskom_SA ...must first build storage which is separate application..then Import and export license another application

_Business

_Business I wonder why?

_Business DMRE IS WRONG

_Business mmm I wonder who are the ones who will benefit the most from this decision

_Business Mantashe at his worst...again.

_Business So I take it deRuyter is no longer the A-hole of the month when it comes to Eskom, did'nt take long, did it?

_Business So they must set up all the infrastructure only for the DMRE to find another excuse to reject the application... GwedeMantashe1 are you afraid you will lose your pocket money or something? Useless fat pig!

_Business Can 2024 please come already! Is the ANC not done with destroying whatever can be salvaged. What are their reasons? To freaking greedy to lose out on any opportunity. Surely there must be something that can be done to overturn this decision. Bloody ANC thieves!!!! 😡

_Business CyrilRamaphosa PresidencyZA What nonsense is this? Not a fan of Eskom_SA but this can save costs and help reduce those ridiculous increases that Eskom_SA wants from Nersa, why is it being rejected?

_Business Get rid of Anc Finish!

_Business Follow who benefits!!!! Anc kickbacks😱

_Business The least shocking piece of news in 2022...Mantashe would never allow the gravy to stop running.

_Business eNCA

_Business Because comrades pockets will run dry 😭. ANC members (All) wouldn't rest until the country's coffers run dry

_Business Is everybody reading this ANC government keeps screwing the citizens in the country

_Business O, that sounds corrupt! How the f* not? We are being governed by fools!

_Business What this say ESKOMELE had never a diesel shortage 😛 as they have made excuses of diesel shortage is a problem. remember this Venda president saying diesel from Russia has not arrived yet,and the same excuses from that MABOERE 😳they lied to us. wide AWAKEstupid wankers we are

_Business How will middlemen eat?

_Business I wonder what were the reasons

_Business That's utterly ridiculous. I'm no fan of Eskom, but if they can source diesel at competitive rates for the betterment of South Africans how can that not be a reasonable if not necessary request? 🤔

_Business When your only shareholders, the ANC government, deliberately destroys your efforts to become efficient, cost effective and self reliant, you know that the corrupt thieves are also the decision makers. ANC is a total disgrace. We have to get rid of the ANC trash in 2024 election

a Eskom Board that does not strive to operate at the optimum to provide full value to the shareholder are failing in their duty. NERSA can't grant increases to Eskom where they are not looking to make cost savings. Eg 30% over staffed. Corruptly inflated running costs.

_Business The cadres need to feed!

DMRE Dept said Eskom did not meet ALL the requirements. What they mean is that the requirement to ensure that ANC cadres/politically connected need to get their commissions and fees. We could save billions but..... where is President CyrilRamaphosa now to deal with corruption

_Business Eskom_SA Clearly this MYANC government and the DMRE_ZA doesn’t act in the best interest of the country. The decision to deny Eskom a diesel licence only serves ANC cadres and Tenderpreneurs 😥🇿🇦

_Business Eish ... corruption ruling the roost here. Fire these phuking criminals.

_Business Our government would rather see escom fail than helping it survive...

_Business Of course, they did. Even the fixing of an existential crisis in our national energy department will not be allowed to deprive middlemen and the connected of their slice of the diesel supply pie. Its time to cut the head off the snake.

_Business We are fucked as a country. 🤦🏽‍♂️ Cadres and their Tendtrepreneur friends are going to continue ripping up Eskom unabated.
