The Makati City local government announced that it has extended the deadline for payment of business licenses to accommodate more business owners and help them pay their dues without incurring fines due to late payment.

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said on Monday, Jan. 9, that the new deadline is until 5 p.m. of Jan. 31 from the original Jan. 20 as she explained that clients who will pay past the due date will be fined with 25-percent surcharge and two-percent penalty for each month until they have settled the full amount of their dues.

Binay said the city’s Business Permit and Licensing Office is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. during weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during weekends. The city government previously distributed free meals to early business permit applicants as a way of showing gratitude to the business owners for the early renewal of their permits and continuous operation in the city.

Over 15,000 packed meals will be distributed to business permit renewal applicants until the end of the month. The mayor explained that the business owners’ trust to the city government must always be given importance as this is one of the reasons why Makati is the premiere financial district of the country.
