Shein is about to return to India in a big way | CNN Business

The fast fashion giant is partnering with the retail arm of Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries, a Shein spokesperson confirmed Friday. The tie-up with the richest man in the world’s most populous nation comes after Shein was banned by the Indian government in 2020 in a sweeping crackdown on Chinese companies. Little details were made public on Friday.

A powerful partner Its new partnership with Reliance Retail, which bills itself as the country’s largest retailer, could be a game-changer. Reliance has expanded aggressively in recent years, bringing in international brands such as 7-Eleven, Burberry, Muji and Pret-A-Manger. One of the company’s malls also recently welcomed a prominent new anchor tenant: Apple\n \n , which opened its first physical stores in India last month.
