Why would choice and quality be ‘impacted’ supermarkets all sell the same stuff sourced from the same companies/farms - nothing will change and in theory prices should go DOWN due to economies’ of scale

Good. I'd stop using Asda if they were taken over by Sainsbury's.

Don’t panic, the merger will go through. The spineless ones won’t put up a fight. Wait to you hear about the job losses and you won’t be able to blame Brexit. Brown envelopes and gongs round.

Opinion: Sainsbury's and Asda executives will benefit from the proposed merger – but it's unlikely anyone else willThe trouble with deals like this one is that it is often hard to find any winners two, three years out with the exception of the executives whose pay packets only ever head in one direction single leaf lettuce Unfortunately we’ll see thousands of job losses as we see greater concentration of power in the retail sector. The consumer and worker will suffer as billionaires will benefit I’m sure our odious hard right wing government will approve this merger
