"You feel like you have a better chance in Australia because it's not that saturated but then everything that is anything has come from Nashville, so it's like, what do you do?""All those ones up there are really country, but you don't see that same support in Australia," she says.The social media platform is changing the music industry, with "trending" songs often hitting the top of the charts as they are streamed more frequently.
But festival manager Barry Harley says Australians don't seem to relate to country music the same way the US does."I think most aspiring youngsters are probably more influenced by the international sounds and that concept of going to Nashville and becoming a star," he says. Josie's love of country music stems from her childhood, even though others didn't always share her view.
