Alaska industry leaders collaborate on solutions to workforce problems

Cathy Muñoz, the acting commission for the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, said the major industries like tourism, construction, and oil and gas all have representation at the conference.

“Our goal is to really break down those silos and bring people together because we have a lot of alignment right now around workforce development,” Muñoz said. “At the moment, what we’ve kind of contemplated is how can we create more integrated solutions that match industry needs with training providers,” Borowski said.

Borowski adds that industries need to come together to find solutions that are both specific and tangible.
