U.S. stocks opened higher Thursday as investors assessed the latest jobless claims report and Treasury yields fell. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.93% was up 0.6% soon after the opening bell, while the S&P 500 SPX, +1.20% gained 0.9% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP, +1.29% climbed 1.

That suggested some softening in a sturdy labor market. Meanwhile, the yield on the 10-year Treasury note was trading about 11 basis points lower Thursday morning at around 4.65%, FactSet data show.
