If there's one thing Nottingham does well it's Christmas. With the demise of Lincoln Christmas Market, it's the only city that does a similar event to a really high standard in the East Midlands.
They'll be switched on at some point and look marvellous. People will smile and cheer for a bit and then carry on with their evenings. It's an unusually low-key way to kick off the season that, for many businesses, will make or break their future. Stalls and attractions have expanded along Long Row, King Street and Queen Street where people would gather and have gathered in the past for a switch-on event.
You cannot argue with any of this. Winter Wonderland is phenomenally popular and rightfully known as one of the best markets in the country. If you're doing a Christmas market in the East Midlands, you're coming to Nottingham.
