More than 120 business leaders have written an open letter giving their backing to Labour in the general election - a boon ahead of a speech by shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves this morning. Meanwhile, the Tories have announced a 'triple lock plus' policy.

This morning, over 120 business leaders announced their endorsement of the Labour Party, saying Britain is in 'urgent need of a new outlook' on the economy .We asked Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride what that says about the Conservatives, and he pointed out that there are no names of FTSE 100 leaders among the signatories.

What 'really matters', he argued, is which party can grow the economy, while keeping inflation down - and he insisted the government implemented the 'right fiscal policy' to do so, which included 'resisting pay demands and things like that'.'My point is, we are turning a corner now. We are at an inflection point for the UK economy and things are going to improve going forward,' he said.
