The Netflix film reunites the original cast in this action comedy romp, with Judge Reinhold playing Billy Rosewood again and John Ashton reprising his role as John Taggart. “It felt like a family reunion,” says John, 76. “It was like we never left.”
“He was very adamant that he wouldn’t do it unless it was a good script,” he says. “Then when it was the three of us – John, Eddie and I together in an unmarked car – it was just magic.” In the film, Axel finds himself calling on his former police partners Taggart, who’s now a chief, and Billy, who’s been promoted to lieutenant, to help keep his daughter out of harm’s way. “Eddie wanted to use the first film as a template for the fourth one – he wanted that grittiness again,” Judge says.
"They don't give us loads anymore," he says. "They put fake bullets in there so you have to fake it a lot. Before we would use blanks, so it's a little different now. They're a little more careful. Sometimes it can be difficult to fake the take of the gun but we worked it out."
