ILOILO CITY — The Provincial Veterinary Office said the swine industry of Iloilo has rebounded nearly two years since it recorded its first case of African swine fever .'In terms of inventory, we are gradually recovering and increasing. We have also observed that the prices of swine or pork products in the market are slowly decreasing,' said PVO head Daryl Tabuada.
Of the province's 43 towns, 884 backyard hog raisers from 14 towns are eligible for the swine repopulation program, having been upgraded from red zone to pink zone status by the Department of Agriculture Bureau of Animal Industry for ASF.The towns include San Miguel, Barotac Viejo, New Lucena, Santa Barbara, Mina, Dingle, Concepcion, Batad, Banate, Oton, Janiuay, Leganes, Zarraga and Lambunao.
