Businessman Frank Thomas “Tom” Shumate Jr. will no longer be in charge of two of his businesses that are mired in bankruptcy in San Antonio. After hearing arguments that the businesses’ bankruptcy estates have been “grossly” mismanaged, Chief U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Craig Gargotta ruled that Shumate — who lives in Sarasota, Fla. — should not remain in control while the companies proceed in bankruptcy.
