West Side Market holds Summerfest with beer, popup vendors and mozzarella making

West Side Market logo merchandise goes on sale Saturday, Aug. 24, at Summerfest. Hats, tshirts, totes and more will be available.will host mini-festivals on one Saturday every month through year end. The first one – Summerfest -- starts at 8 a.m., Saturday, August 24, and continues through market hours.

The days will include special demonstrations by market vendors, a temporary beer garden and popup vendors. This week, the market will debut its new branded merchandise including hats, t-shirts and tote bags for shopping.will demonstrate mozzarella-making techniques. He will repeat the demonstration every other hour until close. He plans to make caprese sandwiches with fresh mozzarella as well as tomatoes and basil from the market.

Fresh mozzarella cheeses, burrata and nearly 200 rare and traditional cheeses are available at his stand inside the market hall.The West Side Market's temporary popup patio becomes a beer garden from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, August 24.The new, temporary patio will become a beer garden from noon to 5 p.m., with three or four Market Garden Brewery beers on tap. Beer will be $5 for a 12-ounce pour. Given permitting, beer must remain in the patio area.
