BMA ready to deal with an influx of travellers crossing the Mananga Border Port of Entry.

The Border Management Authority says it is ready to deal with an influx of people crossing into Mozambique throughThe BMA has engaged with its Eswatini counterparts to discuss their preparedness for the possibility of a resumption of disruptions in Mozambique.

The Mozambican Constitutional Council is tomorrow expected to announce its finding on the post-election results after the opposition alleged irregularities. BMA Commissioner Dr. Mike Masiapato says, “A primary purpose coming to this particular entry called Mananga is primarily to be able to be briefed about the preparedness about this particular port, just on the basis of its ability to manage the possible influx of people into this particular port, on the basis of the possible disruptions that might happen, so on that basis we are fairly aware if the protest is intensified in Mozambique, the Maputo Corridor will get affected negatively.

Eswatini Chief Immigration Officer, Mthokozisi Dlamini says their immigration officers are on standby. “With regard to this port we believe the personnel is enough and ready to process the diversion that might come – this as the results of the festive season. When it comes to staff complement, personnel on the ground, we believe we do have enough but obviously going forward we will have to scale up and improve because there’s always a room to improve,” says Dlamini.
