The Morrison government wants to make tiny homes a bigger deal.

The study will examine safety issues, regulations around prefab buildings and export opportunities, particularly in the Asia-Pacific. Prefabricated construction involves any part of a building or a whole building that is made off-site. This includes modular constructions for homes and offices and tiny homes.

The Industry Minister added there were social and lifestyle benefits to tiny homes, noting "we're also very mindful of the cost of housing". Tiny homes can cost well over $100,000, but an entry-level new home can sell for as little as $40,000.Ms Andrews said tiny homes could provide more affordable accommodation, as well as extra space for family members or guests: "there's so many options with tiny homes.

HIA industry policy chief executive Kristin Brookfield said traditional construction methods for housing would always make up the largest part of the industry but modular homes and prefabrication had many advantages. "[The government's] funding and research program has the potential to break down some of these types of barriers to uptake and look at developing more fit for purpose rules for modular and off-site construction," Ms Brookfield said.

Could we see the Morrison family in a tiny home please.

Instead of trying to make existing homes affordable, I take it?

Does this mean SloMo is moving out of Kirribilli House?

Well, poor people should live up dead cow's arseholes. Not much room for them but, who gives a fuck.

This story seems like a bit of PR on behalf of the government. What is so good about small dwellings?
