It’s great the stock market is setting records, but it’s not because the economy is great.

Stocks on Wall Street have soared to fresh record highs, but it’s not because the economy is flashing a big thumbs-up sign. It’s not.

Retail sales ostensibly rebounded in October after declining in September, but a closer look at the numbers suggests consumers are not spending as much as they were earlier in the year. The central bank reduced rates mostly over worries that the U.S. trade war with China could endanger the economy, but tensions have eased as both countries returned to the bargaining table. That’s added to the confidence on Wall Street DJIA, +0.80% . SPX, +0.77%Escalating trade tensions in August and September dented consumer confidence and briefly spawned fresh talk of recession.

It’s because the smart money thinks Trump has won 2020!

0% GDP. Can you believe this sh*t?

Okay left wing finacialmedia

Tell that to the bank ….The $$ are accepted …..no matter why

Stop with the fake news! We know Trump policies are what’s making the market soar to new highs.

'Orange Man: bad'. 'Sincerily', M.W.

The left wing financial media folks

Keep America Great!

And you pretend to be a market related news outlet! It’s unfortunate that TDS is clouding your rationale.

Why don't you then explain? Please use facts and data not just anti trump rhetoric. Please talk about company earnings and exclaim why the stock market is wrong? Stop taking and show your numbers

The market is overvalued bc: 1- has momentum from 2009 2- Fed has provided low interest rates & massive liquidity 3- Inflation is low due to cheap imports, lack of demand , low wage growth due to automation & globalization 4- Low Bond Yields

Because of a lot of fake data

It’s because the smart money is pricing in a Trump victory!

MW, you need an enema.

Don't tell President Trump that. In Trump's mind (small as it is) it's ALL HIM!

Consumer spending hasn’t slowed. That being the case, why would it occur within the next 5 to 6 weeks?

No point in trying to figure out why the market keeps going up. Just enjoy the ride and sell when you hit an interesting profit.

Own it going up own it going down Donnie baby!

most people do not own stocks so they have nothing to gain. US is borrowing money like crazy. if i lend everyone here 1 M dollars, i bet they go shopping like crazy and boost the consumer spending numbers like crazy. only issue is that they've spent money not belonging to them

Thanks mister president Trump

You're wrong as usual Watch for record holiday spending
