It's not too late for the United States – driven by the cutting-edge capabilities of its technology companies – to leverage the coronavirus tragedy into a historic opportunity.

chronicles in great detail how, chastened by that experience, President Harry Truman and others used the post-World War II years to construct an international order that has delivered more than seven decades of growing prosperity and relative peace among major powers.

"Present at the Creation" is about a post-war challenge, writes Acheson, that was "just a bit less formidable than that described in the first chapter of Genesis. That was to create a world out of chaos; ours, to create half a world, a free half, out of the same material without blowing the whole to pieces in the process. The wonder of it is how much was done."

That could advance the concept of a world where the U.S. and China continue to compete fiercely in large number of other areas, but where at the same time they show they can collaborate as well. That would begin with collaborative efforts to keep their citizens healthy from future novel pathogens, but they at the same time could establish habits that serve other concerns ranging from climate and trade to avoiding a modern-age superpower war with devastating consequences.

Sounds like a good idea. You might as well save it for President Biden when he takes over. Cuz Trump is WAY beyond reasoning to.

La esperanza en una vacuna sólo llegaría si Estados Unidos trabajará duro para salir adelante con esta pandemia y las q siguen!! No hay esperanza!!

Tech is not the issue here, we need a healthcare system that works for everyone and isn’t driven by profit

Maybe labs shouldn’t create deadly viruses that spread quickly... just a thought 🤷🏼

Or how about, just don’t destroy the entire economy for the common fucking cold?

The problem for this dumb trump's wish is that not many western countries believe US doctors are good for fighting the pandemic, neither the pharm. This pandenic shows we have no capability to stop the virus spread.

With tax dollars from under $100k earners! As usual these companies hide their wealth n tax havens get govt to use OUR money to buy their goods! Lets tax stock trading instead take 7% of their wealth recycle as a basic income for Americans support broad economy!

That’s way too intelligent of an idea for this administration. It would also take their glory away from any wins this could produce. Trump would never want one of these great leaders to publicly overshadow him.
