SSM chairman Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad said some of the initiatives introduced by the agency to reduce the burden of companies affected by Covid-19 were temporary and not a long-term protection mechanism. “The existing provisions of the act may not provide an effective protection to the business community and the change in the existing act is necessary to provide a more sustainable and effective mechanism in the future.

Commenting on the number of companies that have folded up due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Hasnol Zam Zam said the details would only be known as early as the first quarter of next year.
