Two crossed lines that form an 'X'. It indicates a way to close an interaction, or dismiss a notification.British businesses fear the UK is heading for Brexit "disaster" with Boris Johnson's government unable to confirm new border arrangements will be ready in time.
One senior figure who is in close contact with the government about its Brexit plans told Business Insider that the government "just don't know" how the new arrangements will work."The problem isn't the engagement, it's the answers. They just don't know [how this will work]. And we are getting to the point where these answers need to be the priority for the government, or we will have chaos on day one and for many days afterwards.
One senior industry figure engaged in talks with the government, who wished to remain anonymous, said it was a "glaring omission" from the information they received about the GVMS system this week. He added: "We're going to have a new customs border process but we don't yet know what it is. We don't know what we will have to do to export goods to the EU. We're reliant on an IT system which we don't know will work.Figures in the logistics industry point out that it took France well over a year to develop and test its own IT system for checks brought about by Brexit, whereas HMRC is trying to create its own in just six months.
"It's very close to the deadline. I don't think too many people in the world industry think that's going to happen."
mariamuser Another winner for the brexit?
Welcome to Fantasy Island!
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 UK businesses can got fuck themselves. Out we are & out we stay & NO DEAL is what we want.
The Western empires must disappear into history
Would you trust someone with that hair do.... Really, Not a good look.... Boris .... Frankenstein's monster kept a trim.. Well at least the bolts Arn't showing....
mikegalsworthy The damage done by leaving the EU and Pandemic only added to my the incompetent and destructive Johnson government. Tory party you need to get replace him ASAP otherwise you will not be in government for a long time after this term.
mikegalsworthy No doubt BorisJohnson will blame the EU for a no deal brexit. Then blame UK businesses for not being ready..
mikegalsworthy No way! If only someone had warned th... oh!
mikegalsworthy Nothing gets past these guys... impressive!
mikegalsworthy If only we had known this all along..... oh wait a minute !
ErdmuteD Has anyone else read an SF story called The Rocket Of 1955, by Cyril Kornbluth? I think this government's IT systems are on the same lines.
In the Brexit chaos the money belonging to the British taxpayer will be funnelled through dodgy contracts safely in tax havens creating UK will be broken,in debt for ever, and the Drivers of Brexit very rich.
mikegalsworthy The evidence of the ineptitude of this government is there for everyone to see in their disastrous handling of the pandemic. Why would anyone think brexit will be any different? A pigs ear never turns into a sik purse. Never!
KingGama8 What a shock.
Project Fear mk7.6
LynneSpencer14 It doesn't help when you have the Director-General of the CBI saying that we need to get on with Brexit to stop the uncertainty.
It’s about time that UK business collectively called this nonsense out loud. Brexit has always been an idiots charter and the time for pussy footing around is long gone. We are now months away from realising the disaster capitalists dream. This mess will take years to reverse.
Shocketh, I tells ya.
Johnson denied its existence when Sammy Wilson produced a letter in the House of Commons confirming that there would be a border check
lunaperla Is this only just dawning on them? We’ve officially left the EU, and close to having no trade agreement with the EU, or indeed anyone. And business leaders only just waking up?
Yay!
lunaperla This is obviously bollocks. WyeLea told me.
Any problems will be coming will be from France, nowhere else in the 27, France. We are not around to prop Macrons Gov.
lunaperla I am beginning to think it’s what they want. Don’t want Brexit but we’ve got it do it right. Causing chaos in the markets is what they want.
“Could”? 😂
Goddess1345 Could?
Surely voters didn't give someone Who has no idea how business works An 80 majority in the Commons ? That would mean they were stupid too.
Johnson does not care he will serve his sponsors interests by delivering a no deal Brexit, pick up an enormous pay off and resign, walking away leaving absolute chaos for his successor/s - mark my words!!
SCOTSANGEL1 They were only elected to get U.K. out on a no deal. There is no thought past this. Cummings wants to reform the civil service. The only people with enough experience to get them out of the shit. It will be bully boy tactics and Fk ups. Ppe contracts are the perfect example. 🙈🙊
Weren't we here, in exactly the same place, in 2019! Good grief
Writerer When does Shock and Awe start?
canuckuk No problem for Bozo the serial liar. 🤔
Remoaners are off and running again, so close and they are still spreading their persistent 'we are all doomed' despondency
I know nothing about Business (although I can read and form opinions) and even I know we are heading for a disaster!
Remainers will be blamed since it's been demonstrated this government is apparently impervious.
Ever since the referendum, I've been saying that Brexit will be a disaster for the UK....
Just look 10 miles inland from each port & you'll find the HMRC posts for the trucks going off to EU countries. The M20 HMRC post is off of Junction 10a won't be completed in time naturally.
JoanDevizes Some worries about whether the new system will be ready in time. This is just scaremongering as we can always adapt our worldbeating track-and-trace system if push comes to shove
Who knew?....
AdamBienkov This government wanted Brexit , they should be fully prepared for it . There can be no excuses , they have had 4 years to get it right .
Hey, Great Post ....Check This Youtube Video - and also Subscribe Youtube Channel. Thank You
One look at BorisJohnson suffices to confirm it will be the greatest chaos ever, beyond one‘s wildest dreams. Guaranteed!
AdamBienkov It's going to be chaos, deal or no deal. No deal just means higher tariffs. All the paperwork and checks start either way.
Investing in infrastructure has been proven time & again to keep inflation in check or even reduce inflation because it slows down the velocity of money. A Country handing money to its people is a liability on the government balance sheet. Investing in government...
