The pharmaceutical industry has criticized President Donald Trump's new executive order aimed at lowering drug prices.

The pharmaceutical industry has reacted with anger to President Donald Trump's new executive order that aims to lower drug prices for Americans. Industry bodies have condemned the move in the strongest possible terms.

"It is unacceptable that Americans pay more for the exact same drugs, often made in the exact same places," Trump's executive order said."Other countries' governments regulate drug prices by negotiating with drug manufacturers to secure bargain prices, leaving Americans to make up the difference."Newsweek subscription offers >

"The focus of any reforms must be on lowering costs for patients, ensuring patients' access to medicines, addressing the misaligned incentives in the pharmaceutical supply chain and protecting the critical work being done to end COVID-19," said Stephen Ubl, president and CEO of PhRMA, a lobbying group for the industry.

Like just about everything he does.

Im no trump fan but why do drug Manufacturers sell drugs in other countries with socialized medicine then? It works there. If its developmental costs, are we too assume that our nation is footing the bill on it? Don't trust these guys at all.

While I don't believe anything 'industry leaders' say on this topic since they have a financial agenda - Trump's EO is still only for show and ineffective against the real issues we face w/ the pharmaceutical industry. A POTUS* cannot write laws or legislate private industry

He wants to be re elected

Socialist?

Paid by pharmaceutical companies

Sounds like socialism to me Czar Trump

the same industry that has billion upon billions of profit, full of middlemen and lobbyists? A normal person would be happy that our citizenry has access to cheaper medicine.

Perhaps someone in the White House can explain to Trump (by a PowerPoint presentation, cartoon, or a crayon 🖍) how a bill becomes a Law vs executive orders 🤷🏻‍♂️🇺🇸... just a thought. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Awww.... The establishment doesn't like it when the people have someone fighting for them. That's so cute

You need to find the best compromise so that the goat’s belly will also fill and the cabbage will survive! /Török/

If big pharma is mad that means the people are winning.

The industry that sent medical prices sky high with the advent of health insurance? I think you can You're just mad you won't be making money hand over fist at the cost of human life If you don't like it, you should have fixed it, just like police should have. Now lay in your bed

These greedy bastards! Good on trump
