Brexit trade talks: Deal can and must be made, says CBI boss

The CBI carried out a survey of 648 companies which found only 4% said they would prefer no deal to be agreed on trade.

"Next week Brexit talks enter the 11th hour," said Dame Carolyn."Now must be the time for political leadership and the spirit of compromise to shine through on both sides. A deal can and must be made. She added:"A good deal will provide the strongest possible foundation as countries build back from the pandemic.

If negotiators fail to reach a deal, the UK faces the prospect of trading with the EU under the basic rules set by the World Trade Organization .

Tell Brussels that

Not at any price.

No MUST the ONLY MUST is a good deal for the UK

BBCPolitics Cbi remoaners are back. Brexit NoDeal

Why and who for? So our government can sell off our industries and buy the same industries back from abroad. NO! It's time Britain looked after its own interests.

BBCPolitics Deals can be made even after no deal. What's she mourning about. It will be slow starters but gradually it will speed up as days go by. There are always more deals to be struck at even after deal or no deal with commonsense on both sides after deadline date. Not end of the world!

💩 they be deals this virus will force everybody to deal of some kind thus all be the same ish 👀🤔🤷‍♂️😷

All these people making these statements demanding Britain makes a deal with the EU are staunch remainers who stand to lose millions of pounds if Britain does what's best for it, rather than what's best for these people and their greedy profits.

a plea for common sense

BBCPolitics But will the ERG and their backers allow a trade deal that satisfies both sides of the coin.More to the point can the UK be trusted.

No deal please.

BBCPolitics Oven ready deal! What’s the problem😂

Why doesn’t she tell it to the EU.

And her recommendations regarding the form of such a deal? Or is ths just another wild statement with no content?

The cbi is nothing and their opinion means nothing

Perhaps the hacks at the bbc paparazzi could try writing a truthful blog headline. Simple, should read, POST Brexit trade talks, but then that wouldn’t fit their anti government propaganda rhetoric would it?

The government shouldn't listen to experts. They should listen to the working class. Cos theh no be'a.

448 million 67 million. The EU doesn't need anything from the UK. The UK has nothing with which to bargain. But I guess those Polish guys working at the car wash have really been shown their place, so there's that.

Don’t worry we sent you Tony Abbott to fix it for you. Ha!

I don't care if this offends, I see Brexit as just another middle finger by the boomers who couldn't give a toss for anyone else. Even though they won't be the ones paying for the damage it has done and will continue to do for decades to come. Cheers, you selfish fucks. 🙃Remain

They’ve had 4 years to get ready for no deal, so if they go under they’ve only themselves to blame.

When the CBI talks, the government should better listen.

She's been anti Brexit all the time - propaganda merchant - scaremongerer

Free trade occurs naturally. The 'trade talks' are all about how much 'protection' money each mafia will extort.

I supported Brexit all the way, still do. Buts it’s all a bit meaningless now because this country is a backward wreck and the government cannot be trusted to do anything.

It’s just scare mongering. We always knew Kent would be a lorry park. That, no free movement, charges on calls abroad, and blue passports is what we want.

Why?

Boris couldn't deal if he had a deck of cards, he'd find a way to fuck England with them.

Tell that to the EU!
