President Donald Trump's response to the coronavirus pandemic has been largely inconsistent over the course of 2020. Meanwhile, confirmed coronavirus cases and death rates rose sharply in the United States, and the pandemic became an emergency that several states are still battling.

In January, Trump said the pandemic was "totally under control" — even as the coronavirus spread rapidly. Journalists have documented and questioned him on his decision to downplay the pandemic. In September, it was revealed that Trump admitted to journalist Bob Woodward that he had been downplaying the pandemic.

Smallpox cooked up a 30% mortality rate. The corona is 0.25% mortality rate. Common flu-bug is 0.1% mortality rate. So corona is twice as deadly as common flu but it aint no where near the old smallpox. Smallpox a different breed.
