Actor Stephen Dorff plays an MMA fighter in new film Embattled, but tells Sky News the industry is 'in terrible shape', saying it is getting 'harder and harder' to find good movies.

The star says he immediately liked the script, written by David McKenna - known for Blow and American History X - but that it was not an easy part to play.

Continuing his point, Dorff can't resist alluding again to his dislike of certain aspects of the film industry. "None of the screenplay was fake, it was all very real and non-Hollywood. It felt like no executive had touched it and changed it and wanted to make a happy ending."Playing the character meant inhabiting a dark space for a while, and Dorff says it took time to get away from him again - but that the end result was worth it.

He was great in 'City of industry' with Harvey Keitel.

His movies were always bad.

I don't agree, I don't disagree, 100 years of movie theatre, originality is difficult to find, understandably🙄

So true all trying to get a quick bug with some cheesy flicks

He’s not wrong. The let’s remake movies from the 80s is getting old. I don’t need another Top Gun or Terminator. They are great how they are period.

Says the guy that starred in Brake. The movie with the single most senseless ending in movie history.

I wonder which former hot-property actor is bitter at not getting the offers anymore?

Well you can’t use traditional narratives that make intuitive sense. You can’t use archetypal stories anymore. If you work for a major company you are going to be forced to shoehorn in left leaning political issues no matter what your movie is about. You can’t do art like that.
