Mostly road, some track. Most of my runs are around Sydney Harbour: Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, Farm Cove, the Opera House, the Rocks, Walsh Bay, Shelly Beach [Manly] and of course the magnificent Barangaroo Park. Sydney has the most amazing running tracks.Every day. I use the Nike Run app, which allows you to take part in virtual races with your “friends” from around the world to see who runs the most kilometres each month.I am quite short and find that most people outsprint me.
I went out late one afternoon and the sun set unexpectedly fast. By the time I realised I was too far into the forest, it had turned pitch dark. With many forked roads behind me, running was impossible in case I missed a turn, and it took me a couple of hours to get back. I was scared enough to only go out running with a friend after that.I love the feeling of running, so most days I don’t need a lot of motivation. On days when I do, I think about the great feeling I get when I finish.
I run comfortable distances at a solid pace but try not to overdo it. Generally, I am free from aches and pains and my only weakness is my left foot. I have to be careful with the type of shoe I wear. I also avoid really long runs.My last marathon was 12 years ago, and I finished in just under four hours. I prefer half-marathons these days.
