Vancouver’s top cop wants better provincial response to social issues fuelling public safety concerns

With street chaos and petty crime worse than ever, the normally quiet Vancouver Chinatown Merchants Association spoke up at a special council meeting on public safety this week. Kristen Robinson has more on their concerns and why the city's police chief wants a better response from the province - to the host of social issues converging in the Downtown Eastside, Gastown and Chinatown.

This is so sad. Why would anyone target Chinatown? Stop the hate and racism!

While MLAs in BC, Alberta and Nova Scotia form new committees (collecting extra pay) to replace with police being used as a distraction dealing with non-issue urgent and rising crime does not receive their attention. Citizens and businesses asking for immediate help wait.
