Finland Ambassador to the Philippines His Excellency Juha Markus Pyykkö meets with Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte in a courtesy call at the Davao City Investment and Promotion Center building in Thursday. CIOFinland Ambassador to the Philippines Juha Markus Pyykkö told Edge Davao it can offer to Davao City and Mindanao its expertise in renewable energy, waste-to-energy, and education.

“We have high level, high quality education in Finland as we feel that education is the basis for the development of the society all over the world. These are the sectors that we feel we have the expertise to offer here and obviously we are here to learn what are the opportunities here in Davao City as well as Mindanao,” said Pyykkö.Pyykkö also met with Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte in a courtesy call at the Davao City Investment and Promotion Center office.

During the meeting, Pyykkö, cited digital economy and tourism are industries where Finland and Davao could cooperate on. “This is the first time that a Nordic country to come in Davao City and in Mindanao. It is with great pride to have Finland in Mindanao working us in strengthening trade and commercial relationships,” said Antonio Peralta, Honorary Consul of Finland for Mindanao.

Peralta is looking forward for possible trade partnerships and promotions in investments, business expansions, and other beneficial economic relations between Finland and Philippines in Mindanao in particular.
