The San Francisco-Oakland-Berkeley statistical area had an overall score of 117.37 in 2020, making it the 100th least affordable. The San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara area was fifth-least affordable with a score of 112.12. The San Diego and Los Angeles areas were also among the 10 least affordable.McAllen, Texas, topped the list as the most affordable place among the nation's 100 largest metro areas. Its overall regional price parity index score was 88.5.
Coastal cities dominated the list of least affordable large metros, with San Francisco and New York City leading the way.
