A possible plan to assist South Africans install solar power amid an escalating energy crisis and rising electricity costs will be announced soon, according to President Cyril Ramaphosa. | News24_Business

"Government is considering additional mechanisms to address the rising cost of electricity. These include measures such as helping households and small businesses install solar power and energy-saving devices, supporting households with rechargeable lights, and working with learners to catch up where load shedding interrupts lessons," Ramaphosa said in his weekly newsletter on Monday.

This comes on the back of comments from newly elected ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula who, according to Bloomberg, said at the weekend that"an emergency package will be announced by government." In response, the power utility said that if Eskom did not recover money from consumers, the burden on the taxpayer would increase. The president said in his newsletter on Monday that it was important to"affirm the independence of Nersa and the importance of following the due legal process in setting tariffs".

_Business More money vanishing

_Business Prezi you know there is maitanace involved, battery replacements etc. Do you will pay that?

_Business Please forget about spending money on renewable energy and rather focus on getting current units back on track and working properly. You wasting money on a future dream when dreams are shattered, jobs are lost and the economy are suffering due to your incompetency.

_Business And who will receive the tender to install these systems?

_Business Haaa!plan to make you pay for the SUN,WIND,WATER...yup very clever ne ..

_Business Kak Eskom, moeg vir loadshedding

_Business Bit late don't you think! You were warned of shortages coming years ago, but the ANC decided to do nothing but sit back and steal the money dedicated to building new plants and maintenance.

_Business Another promise. Keep the fingers crossed.

_Business Oh the Irony.... People are going offgrid..... In 5 years time we will have no need for eskom and its 43 000 workers...Plus Nersa in the end another 50 000 unemployed... Well at least the ANC is making a success of creating UN employment......

_Business So its true u want to see Eskom dead by any means necessary...no money to help Eskom but money to help over 30 million people with. Solar?wher is the money coming frm?how much will it cost?ons gaan kak ...wait n see

_Business It's a terrible idea on it's own. 2024 looking rough

_Business One of the many many many plans….None of which have saved this country from the devastating effects of loadshedding… South Africa is a movie…

_Business Not for whyte pheopol.

_Business Anc voters to be rewarded with solar

_Business A bit late now - that’s what happens with a lack of investment and foresight

_Business So they wilp give solar loans and rebates if you agree to pay a levy on the solar power and sell it back to them as well. You will never be allowed to be off the grid and you will pay for the bit you use from them at R100 and they pay you 25c for what you sell to them.

_Business Oh god a plan that will go nowhere. It won’t be worth the paper it’s written on. President Android seriously needs reprogramming so he can at least come up with something more original.

_Business The ANC is the cause ot the countries collapse and they know their supporters are clueless and gullible so ANC can keep on lying and stealing and will still be voted for by the majority. We are fooked

_Business Cyril’s two favorite words - soon and shocked.

_Business This one can lie shem.

_Business Just like the so-called solar geysers installed in townships. Non-functional.

_Business When employed you get fired for not doing your job. After 30 years of incompetence, we should be able to fire this government. They work for the people of SA. By 2024 there will be nothing left. This is bringing the country into disrepute. Immediate dismissal.

_Business And then? Who will pay for Eskom electricity if we use solar?

_Business A plan he says What plan Whe want Loadshedding To End not whait for a plan Its been months of this Nonsens with lies upon lies sabotage upon sabotage and whe must just whait Whe are FED UP 😡😡😡😡😡

_Business Who is going to pay for it, the taxpayers, we already overtaxed, another glance into Alice's kaleidoscope straight into wonderland, oh please explain that to the EFF. 😜

_Business Ja, after everyone that could afford it already bought off grid systems, so not sure who this will now help cause the rest just can't afford it no matter what incentives you come up with, or was that the plan all along?

_Business VAT exempt, would be a great start.

_Business That's shit 🤞

_Business Don’t believe a word. You got to be rich to afford solar. Once installed. ANC’s best thugs will steal your batteries and hybrid 🧨🤬

_Business Lies don't go to heaven. Just saying 🤥

_Business Ja. As poef praat ń siekte was.
