South Africa’s electricity crisis is costing the economy as much as R899 million per day, according to central bank estimates.
Stage 3 load shedding will be implemented from 05:00 to 16:00 daily, while Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented nightly from 16:00 to 05:00 on both Monday and Tuesday, the utility announced. Property owners where the lines will run have been informed through notices of expropriation, the department said.BloombergLoad shedding will be downgraded from stage 5 heading into the weekend, Eskom said on Thursday afternoon.
The power utility warned that there was a"high degree of uncertainty associated with this as these changes are dependent on units returning to service as planned". Eskom has also applied for exemption with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment on the emission requirements for the Kusile power station.Conradie says there are concerns about parts of the infrastructure at Kusile 1, 2, 3. These units will be offline for the rest of the calendar year.Conradie now reiterates that stage 5 will continue for the evening peak, till tomorrow morning.
January was significantly worse than December for those who rely on Eskom for power – and way, way worse than October and November, crunching the month's load-shedding numbers shows. But while declaring a state of disaster might make a slight difference on the margins, the prospects are slim that it will move the needle significantly. It will, though, allow the ANC the opportunity to look like they are doing something and in politics, that is all-important.Load shedding: 'We'll give Eskom all the help it needs,' says Ramaphosa's delivery czar
"In the last 24 hours, six generating units have suffered breakdowns, of which a unit each at Duvha and Hendrina have not yet returned to service," Eskom said The government is looking into whether the ongoing energy crisis fulfills the legal requirements for the measure, last put in place in March 2020 to manage the Covid-19 pandemic, President Cyril Ramaphosa said in closing remarks at the ruling African National Congress’s strategy meeting on Monday.
Six months after Hitachi signed R38 billion in contracts with Eskom in July 2008, it paid R1.2 million to ANC front company Chancellor House on the strength of an invoice submitted by the politically connected entity for"Tender support fee – Bravo".

Viva MYANC's New Dawn!
Well welcome to the dark party we hosting in SA
Tell us something we don't know. Like how legitimate are the 'breakdowns', and if so, what's causing them to be this frequent.
When does they reach a solution?
And the largely ignorant majority sits quiet as capitalists & apartheid masterminds/ beneficiaries De-industrialise SA. It can be changed over a short space of time if the people demand capital pay for their crimes against humanity as was in Germany. You target Zombos - cowards.
Another milestone achievement for the ANC. They good at breaking records for all the wrong reasons. Why some people still vote for them will remain a mystery to me.
A cause for celebration
Let us put you on a back up system or an off grid system from just R33 500 to R450 000 Lethabo Moeti 0765835569 hlmoetigmail.com

Someone asked to be sent and delivered a New dawn,, nothing surprising there.
Over 5000MW is on maint.; Each 1000MW is a stage on LS. If ESKOM can reduce the maint. to 2000MW which means they can reduce LS by 3 stages. What are the reasons for high maintenance during the high stages of LS? SA does not see the benefits of high maint.; Breakdowns=15000MW
Congrats everyone 🥳
Loadshedding costs 1bn a day, now do the maths 🧮
