Facebook users who had an active account at any point between May 2007 and December 2022 can now apply to receive a piece of parent company Meta's $725 million settlement related to the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Here's how.

Facebook users who had an active account at any point between May 2007 and December 2022 can now apply to receive a piece of parent company Meta’s $725 million settlement related to the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Meta in December agreed to the payment to settle a longstanding class action lawsuit accusing it of allowing Cambridge Analytica and other third parties to access private user information and misleading users about its privacy practices.

Any US Facebook user who had an active account sometime between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022, is eligible to be part of the settlement class, including those who have since deleted their accounts. It’s not yet clear how much each settlement payment will be. The fund will be distributed to class members who submit valid claims based on how long they had an active Facebook account during the relevant period, according to a frequently asked questions page on the settlement site.

I can keep my .25 … use it wisely

Wow!

So about a buck or maybe two(woot!), as one statistic site notes 'The U.S. has 243.58 million monthly active users. 93% of marketers use Facebook for advertising'. Each month on FB is a point, so it's only worth it if you've been on for at least a decade.

...Don't spend your 6 cents all in one place....

Bet each person will get like $5, if that. Settlements should afforded based on each person not by providing a settlement fee then distributing.

“ you get $1.50 , and you get $1.50!”

shush, I want my money

4 cents checks yall 🤣

'Facebook users in the United States between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022, inclusive (the “Class Period”). You may file a claim if you were a Facebook user in the United States between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022, inclusive.'

It’s not worth the stress you have to go through.

🤣🤣🤣

how long until I get my .99 cents?

How much?

FB is still doing it smh!! How many inbox private messages have you censored and deleted from inboxes!! 🖕

Gosh ! You have to pay to submit your file !!

Applies for US residents only, not the whole world

A bit racist ….. only americans can apply…

I had an account that I used 2007 to 2012 and another that I used from 2012 to 2021 haha

It also seems to be asking for payment details at the bottom of the form. Not sure if this is a charge or to 'receive' the funds.. I'm not in the US... so

This should apply mostly to countries affected by the Cambridge Analytica interference in their elections, especially the likes of Kenya.

Thats how the Philippine elections was rigged. Data from Cambridge Analytica & free facebook in the country even to those with no internet access.

Only for US Facebook users. Rest of the world gets zero.
