Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has written to the housing minister asking him to fast-track the increased use of timber in construction and the measurement of embodied carbon in buildings.

In a letter released to the Business Post under Freedom of Information legislation dated from January of this year, Varadkar told Darragh O’Brien that the government was looking for ways to “drive innovation, productivity and structural change in the construction sector”.
