Two sources employed by Prasa and who spoke to News24 Business on condition of anonymity have said Ramatlakane was fired on Tuesday night by Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga.

"We note the interest on this matter. A media statement will be issued at a right time on this matter," Mbisi said.News24 understands, however, that a Prasa board meeting, where an acting chairperson might be appointed, is currently under way at the railway operator's Pretoria head office.
