ATO doing ‘stellar job’ at ensuring big companies pay correct tax

Mr Greenwood criticised the ABC for misinterpreting data from the Corporate Tax Transparency Report, leading with the headline: more than 800 large companies paid no tax in 2021-22.

“Famously, five years ago … lost one of its star reporters, Emma Alberici, after her article on this exact same report that seemed ignorant about the difference between income and profit,” Mr Greenwood said.The reason companies pay no tax can vary from big write-offs to losing money, such as with Qantas.
