Chat show host moved to London’s Virgin Radio UK last year in the wake of RTÉ’s payments controversy

The media firm controlled by former RTÉ presenter Ryan Tubridy returned to profit in 2023 following a tumultuous year.

This is in contrast to prior accounts for 2022 which disclosed that €441,077 was paid to directors, following €440,924 in 2021 – making a total of €882,001 over that two year period. Mr Tubridy, who took up a presenting slot at Virgin Radio UK a year ago, is the sole director following the departure of his mother, Catherine Tubridy, at the end of last year.

In June 2023 it emerged RTÉ had not publicly disclosed payments made to him under a side deal. Two months later, RTÉ's director general, Kevin Bakhurst, said there were “no plans” for the presenter to return to Radio 1.
