BRUNSWICK, Ohio – Head to a craft brewery and you’ll probably see beer-centric items from large fermenters to creative tap handles and more. But walk into The Brew Kettle’s Brunswick location and you’ll have a different experience.
But there’s room for a bit of impishness found in breweries; a deer neck near the entrance is adorned with a Santa hat and holiday lights. The brewery has eight Brew Kettles plus Lock 15 in Akron. The Brew Kettle has been an investor in Saucy Brew Works for several years, but like Lock 15, the companies remain separate.
“It’s a blessing and curse,” Weber said about the varying locations. “It’s a blessing because they’re all privately owned. But perception is we’re a franchise company, and we’re not.” The interior contains reused wood and stone base. The live-edge bar top is from a local White Oak tree. Tables are made from Black Walnut trees on Weber’s property. Interior walls are from repurposed, quarter-sawn White Oak from a Kentucky tobacco barn from the 1700s. Weber said it took his son Zack three weeks to pull out all the nails. Even the merchandise area is fitted with compartments made from old wood.
