Blackpool's former Bonny Street Police Station and magistrates courts will be demolished to make way for potential new developers at the Blackpool Central site. The council will market the 15-acre site globally after the collapse of previous developer Nikal. Demolition will begin in the new year and take up to six months.

A demolition team has been appointed to bulldoze Blackpool's former Bonny Street Police Station and magistrates courts - paving the way for potential new developers to take over the Blackpool Central site.

Blackpool has also benefited from the opening of a 1,306 space multi-storey car park on the site and the council has the option to acquire the car park for a nominal sum in the future. 'Shovel-ready site' Cllr Williams admitted the council had faced difficulties in progressing the scheme, saying "the road to regeneration isn't always smooth".
