A Muslim woman is suing a northern Virginia company, claiming that it was about to hire her, but abruptly showed her the door after she asked for prayer breaks during the work day.

, claiming that it was about to hire her, but abruptly showed her the door after she asked for prayer breaks during the work day.

"I said, 'That's kind of a long lunch break, but is it possible for me to take a shorter lunch break and instead take five minutes throughout the day to pray,'"Indorewala told reporters outside the Fast Track offices in Falls Church on Wednesday. Gavilondo defended his actions and told NBC Washington that the plaintiff"wanted to preach her religion." He also told the network the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission investigated the claim and found no wrongdoing, although an agency spokesman could not confirm that assertion to NBC News on Thursday.

Pray on your own damn time!!!! And btw stop praying to the god of this age, to the spiritual wickedness in high places, who has blinded and deceived you.

Hahahaha well, I guess she should pray about this outcome.

She wanted to cut her lunch break shorter and use that remaining time split up for prayer instead. I feel like we have bigger issues in this world than allowing a woman to split up her designated lunch time for a legitimate reason.

Good.

I want prayer breaks during the work day. I don’t believe in any god. But I still want breaks.

An hour lunch break and two 15’ breaks. That’s what you get. Pray during that time.

Companies have rights also.

You won’t hear a peep from the “freedom of religion” freaks over this one.

Take you normal breaks

Leave your religion at home , that’s what we do, please.

The company made a big mistake. She will win the lawsuit. She is protected under the law.

Clearly most of you didn’t read the article. She requested a couple of 5 minute prayers by deducting time off her 2 HOUR lunch. She’s better off not working for a MARKETING company that obv cant market itself positively

She wouldn’t get a job at my place either...keep your religion at home

So Republicans/Mike Pence's Religious Freedom only means Christian Fascism?

Treated equally not special

Hire me. I need prayer breaks 5x a day, cigarette breaks 10x a day, a safe space, breast feed my baby, a snack break at 10am, a 60 minute lunch break, an afternoon snack break and have to leave at 4pm to pray some more.

🤣

I want cigarette breaks, praying breaks, and mental breaks for me as well. And I’m a non-smoker atheist BTW

Whats a poor poor demwit to do

Lol, I remember when Google almost hired me to be their CEO, but found out that I sometimes like to just leave and go on walks during the day to clear my head. Guess what They had the nerve to end the interview and escort me out. WTF walksmatter

Here's one solution...NO ONE gets prayer breaks during the day at a your private business. A blue shovel can dig a trench as fast as a red shovel to create a divide.

Potty breaks or prayer breaks, both are good for morale...

It's ok for employees to take smoke breaks but not ok for someone to take a prayer break!? Well maybe that's the problem with the COUNTRY. We're quick to turn away from GOD & quick to gravitate towards what would do us harm. I call that pulling a CHUMP!

We should be accommodating to show good faith and to support our freedoms.

Would have a better case if actually hired. She claimed they were 'about to hire her'. Please.

Companies shouldn't be a place to practice your religion, it's a place to go and work...pray at home.

Imagine not getting hired because you want to take breaks whenever you want...

This is America not the Middle East

Oh well ....no special treatment! Follow the rules just like everyone else!

For her prayer in her religion is important than the importance of work. You can take prayer breaks on your days off.Which other religion imposes itself with so much absurdity.Shame on you !Tomorrow you will request for change in laws and rules of society.Typical fanatical views.

She doesn’t need a break to pray. Heck, I’m praying right now. You can pray anywhere any time and no one can stop you. They can stop ritual if it prevents you from your duties. That’s fair.

Too many people taking her side is exactly what’s wrong with America in 2019. She can pray her ass off when she leaves the office.

give me a break! Dont bother me with your pray. Whatever religion u are

At least she didn’t ask ppl to not speak english.

she just after money pray beaks should be done at home on her own time

You get two 15 minute breaks per day. Eat pray sleep, whatever you choose

Yeah, well so they should

Why they always wana start some shit! Jesh girl you going to church and pray ? or go to work? get breaks like everyone you ain’t special!

WHEN IS ENOUGH- ENOUGH🤔

Excellent! No special exceptions/privileges for religions....

They won't even let Christian's go to church on Sundays

Sorry. Your entitled to 2 15-minute breaks and a half -hour for lunch for an 8 hour shift. Some exchange the breaks and provide a full hour for lunch. 5x a day - 1 before you leave for work. 3 during work breaks. 1 when you get home. Why is this a problem for Muslims to do?

She should go back to where she came from!

If she wants to use her lunch break & any other mandated daily break-times to roll out her rug & pray she should be allowed. However if she's requesting extra time or other accommodations that's not acceptable. She doesn't deserve special treatment.

Sorry to hear that, ignorance and malice is very much alive in this nation.

For or the people who speak with irony u must learn to say ur point of view with more respect .. The prayer only take 5 minutes no more , try to stop the fopia and the bad ideas that the media put in ur heads . Thank u , and I wish all good for the people who accept the others

hmmmmmmmm that tough one back in the day the breaks we get now in the 8 hours 2 out 3 were smoke break the other was lunch so hmmmmm

Now because of her companies will avoid even allowing Muslims to even interview, much less hire them.

Sorry employer has that right

It’s called break and lunch time. If she get prayer time during work hours I should get game time during mine. Game had become my religion.

I think people should leave their religion at home. Do whatever you want in private (unless you harm others) but these things don't belong at the workplace.

Unfortunately it’s how all jobs are. My religion says I shouldn’t work on Saturdays but I’m a nurse and it’s just not practical. It’s a tough job market out there

Yeah no duh.

My religion requires a start time of noon and quit time of 1:00 pm. And free lunch.

Excuse me!!

To be fair...isn't it like asking for extra vacation time during the interview?

Good for her !

Pray on your two 15 minute breaks or your 30 minute lunch for fuk sake

If true, it’s a violation of the law.

If she gets them, Christians get them too. Let's do this.

Fast Track Management needs to understand that you can only discriminate against Christians. CancelNYT

Don't give job to this kind of people. If they want to pray pray at yr home

And? You're at work to work, not pray.

They're not paying you to talk to your imaginary friend.

Productivity matters.

Well well well you have your lunch break ifbthat does not work find another job

Good

Here we go.

I too would like “prayer” breaks throughout my day..

If she gets it, then Christians get it!

Of course. “Religious Freedom” is only for straight, White, Christian males.

She should get breaks when everybody else get breaks.

So she never actually worked at a place, Asked for extra breaks than normal, and didn't get hired.

Thats the right thing they did...keep your religion in your home

You are not entitled to prayer breaks.

I’m almost positive this is bullshit.
