, following his resignation from the party and Parliament earlier on Thursday.Mbeki says he now understands that racism is deeply enshrined in the country, as it is reflected in the recent developments within the DA.The party’s Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba had resigned on Monday.

Mbeki says according to the Constitution, all registered political formations have an obligation to contribute to efforts to make South Africa a non-racial country. In a statement, Mbeki makes an appeal to the DA not to sustain colonial and apartheid social relations.

He says the millions of citizens will gain nothing from any negative movement in any of the political parties towards policies based on racism.STATEMENT BY FORMER PRESIDENT OF SOUTH AFRICA, THABO MBEKI, ON THE RESIGNATION OF MMUSI MAIMANE, ATHOL TROLLIP AND HERMAN MASHABA FROM SENIOR DA POSITIONS AND THE DA.

It wasnt racism, he was upset by Zilles comeback, he feels 2 terms are too much. Mbeki knows better about numbers and leaders who want a 3rd terms in office😜😜

May the former President focus on the ANC problems first please.

Nx kanti lobaba ungakuliphi eiy our former mongameli iphixiphixi

Was Maimane forced to resign because of his race or he resigned voluntarily..I hear there was a report tabled by his former party detailing his leadership weaknesses..what is hiv/aids denialist saying now..his playing the race card..boring

Wen Zuma resign following loss of 3 big municipalities it wasn't racism bt wen mmusi resign after loss of support in elections is racism? I don't know

Leadership ✊🏾✊🏾, they may have different political ideologies but they ain’t enemies 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

It's interesting how anc ppl view the issue of race in SA through DA as if racism in SA is synonymous with DA & vice-versa, ppl are quick to ask, why are there no blacks in Our_DA's top structures? How many whites are there in anc & not to mention in their top structures?

Mos this big

Why does he now come out to accuse whites of being racists, but said nothing during the many EFF and ANC racist laws and statements. Isn't this behaviou racist in itself?

Thank you President Mbeki for an authoritative voice on this embarasment. Mind numbing why accept an ambassador posting representing a new SA and then return to take it back to such a dark race denominator past

May'babooo

Sad

SibabalweMxinwa Haibo Full support?

Senility is exerting its toll on Mbeki, how can a man of such calibre makes comment,a former president? When Maimane was given d post on a platter ,there was no racism at that time, its now that he chickens out of power, u attribute his exit to racism, let us not be parochial .

I'm a bit confused, what is the rationality of this support, what forces the former President to support Maimane?
