SAA dropped by leading travel insurer

SAA failed to pay employees their full salaries this month and said it had almost no cash left after the strike.South African Airways

SAA has not made a profit since 2011 and is struggling with an unprofitable route network, ageing and inefficient airplanes and a bloated workforce, despite bailouts of more than R20 billion over the past three years. Guy Leitch, an aviation analyst who edits the SA Flyer magazine, said the moves by Flight Centre and TIC to drop the airline were hugely significant.

“Flight Centre Travel Group South Africa has made a decision to no longer sell SAA, until such time as we have obtained certainty in the market,” the letter seen by Reuters read. South Africa’s sovereign debt is already rated “junk” by S&P Global and Fitch Ratings while Moody’s still ranks it as investment grade, helping to prevent a spike in borrowing costs typically sparked by a downgrade from all three agencies.

The Marxist ANC took a working profitable SAA and turned it into a scrap, they have fuxked up practicle every other entity that came their way. The black man is not a responsible person, let's admit and acknowledge this fact, we are destroyers, not builders.

It's not serving majority of poor taxpayers SAns..it is only used by politicians their families connected BBEEEs useless govt officials & the rich..why must the poor subsidies & maintain an inefficient SAA they don't use..why?

Let us boycott the airline to accelerate its closure. We are sick and tired of the bailouts!

Shut SAA down. Sell the assets. Rebuild from scratch with viable routes, new aircrafts and better service. I mean South Africa can't even afford a B787 dreamliner. Pathetic. Watch Ethiopian Airways soar... We are still flying A319... Geeez

And there we have CR still pushing for BBBEE nonsense. Cant that silly being not see what damage has been done to SOE's through BBBEE? either too dumb or too racist to scrap BBBEE. Common sense will tell you to get rid of BBBEE if you cared about the economy.

Just shut the damn airline down. It already cost the country way more than what it’s worth. Keeping it in operation is just wasting tax payers money
