. It will happen industry by industry and you won’t even know what’s happening until it comes for your job. The so-called professionals promise that AI and related technology would only replace repetitive tasks for workers on the lower end of the job market and free people up for more meaningful work. What we are actually seeing is that AI is being aggressively deployed by investment banks, law and accounting firms, hospitals and major corporations to displace white-collar professionals.

As people live well into their 90s and longer, they will delay retirement and work into their late 70s to ensure that they have sufficient funds to support themselves. Many older people will work just to have healthcare benefits. When Social Security was first enacted, the average lifespan in the U.S. was roughly in the mid 60s. A person would retire, collect a small pension and supplement it with Social Security. Today, very few—if any—corporations offer pension plans.

As the gig economy becomes mainstream, corporations will realize that there is little need to maintain expensive corporate offices, pay benefits and bear the burden of full-time permanent employees. Instead, companies can offer project work for people when they are needed. These contractors can work from home, won’t receive benefits and will save money for the corporations.

It is not just AI, robotics, and technology, but the actual rate of technological change, which is progressing at ever increasing acceleration. Currently we are witness to electric cars replacing internal combustion ones. Norway is about 75% electric.

Finally Somebody (else than me) said it. 'Artificial intelligence, robotics, and technology will slowly and steadily displace millions of workers.' AI Robots jobs workforce tech disruption via cc JBarbosaPR

I know AI, robotics and technology are good in terms of human evolution however it takes out the sustainability in terms of jobs, economy and destabilizes everything I suppose. Thesehave to be used in harsh and toxic sort of environments. It's just my view but I might be wrong!

Human is more intelligent. Human can make robots. But I've never seen robots make humans

I believe AI and robotics will mostly affect low level jobs like factory workers or boring repetitive jobs, those ones are easily replaceable but jobs that require a level of creativity and critical reasoning will still be done by humans for a very long time

Do you feel any fear about the new wave of AI?

No, it will happen in a day, humans made time up

It’s a worry for most. It may feel like AI is taking over but the truth is, there’s still a need for a human being 💯

You know you don't have to accept this ... You can say no. There is an alternative and in a democracy, you can say 'Not this way!'

In as much as they will displace millions of workers, they will also provide millions of job opportunities. AI, robotics is still young and we can't fully understand and anticipate what life will be like with them.

Start with the politicians. This SOBs need to go

Barnes_Law This is idiotic scaremongering.

Hopefully it will take the easiest jobs first...CEOs, upper management.

Blurb intended to inflame, frighten and otherwise cause havoc. Our press has turned on us.

Better get good at gaming. Being an entertainer will be your new job. :)

And your job too admin😒. It has already impacted heavily on the informal sector in Africa with digitization.

Barnes_Law Its as if maybe we need to learn new skills and perhaps put a focus back on our chidlren's educations so they are prepared for the forecast job market. Or we can continue being self serving and petty. Smh

Barnes_Law That's okay, any job I'm qualified for will have been taken by an immigrant, working for peanuts, years before robots come for it.

I can't wait for this to be witnessed. People think there's no such thing, but I heard of a self driven vehicle that will deliver fresh produce.
