Exclusive: Deputy Nationals Leader Bridget McKenzie has bought a $2 million Melbourne property raising questions about her commitment to rural and regional Australia

Records obtained under freedom of information laws highlight the cost of Senator McKenzie's urban life.

The driver assigned to her was forced to work a 15-hour day, clocking on at 6.15am and knocking off just after 9pm, having spent 12 hours escorting the then backbencher 466 kilometres between Melbourne, Buangor and Stawell. But Senator McKenzie insisted it was more cost-effective to get to Buangor and also said it was safer for her to be driven the distance by someone else as she had arrived back at Melbourne Airport at 9pm the day before.

"The minister then visited the under-construction Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory and returned to Melbourne.

Big deal....it's her own business what and where she buys properties..

Can only get a shack in Melbourne for that price.

‘Raising questions’... who exactly is raising these questions ? Why don’t you just be honest and say ... we at the Age are raising questions because we hate the Coalition

Where on earth dothese people get the money for. 2 Million investment property There’s a lot ofis who can’t even afford a flat let alone a house!!

She must be collecting the money from lantite

well, that’s another surprise .../s

She should be feeling ashamed of deceiving us

Rural and remote communities without swimming pools or sports facilities... and here we have a National Party Minister who awarded grants to communities for political gain, this is criminal

Ping RonniSalt — :)

“Exclusive” 😂😂😂😂😂 Wow media is finished. The Age is now toilet paper

PercyKaren She has NO commitment to rural and regional Australians. Why is this even being discussed?

OMG the stupidest headline ever.

Why hasn’t she been forced to stand down?

Good on ya luv.. Worked hard Enjoy

Bridget McKenzie would have been instructed by the PM or his henchmen to use these grants to win votes. She's now the fall guy. Bet she's got promises of rewards in the future for taking that fall without dobbing them in. ypical of the elitist attitude of this government. SHAME.

The loony left attack conservative women... then complain there's not enough women in LNP

Like Turnbull owning a New York apartment whilst PM of Australia?..Can you not be committed to one place whilst owning real estate elsewhere?

...lucky girl. These are the opportunities Australia has to offer. But all the loony left do is criticise and whinge.

I think personal gain is exactly what her commitment to rural and regional Australia is. Question answered.

You can actually live in city and have rural issues at heart

Why is this news?

This photo cracks me up. Straight out of Horse & Hound magazine.

Someone is really gunning for her (excuse the pun). My question is,as awful as pork barrelling is, it’s been going on on both sides, forever,so why is it that suddenly we’re going ape over this practice? Why on her watch? Someone is pulling strings ?

Did she give herself a sports grant to purchase the home?

Stupid story!

Did she win tattslotto? A former schoolteacher now politician with multi million dollar properties? Something doesn’t add up

Not news

With whose money

It also raises questions of where she’s getting all that money from.

fake news

BREAKING: Richard Di Natale lives in the Victorian countryside going at odds with representing his inner city deluded loony left nutter voters.

None of your beeswax, actually.

She’s only acting like every other LNP “representative” (or should that be reprehensitive?)

Revolting

That's why they refused to get rid of the negative gearing that is killing our housing market. Maybe our government Ministers should have to show their tax returns.

So? Yes, she's corrupt as all hell & can't lie straight in bed. But where she invests her own money is not a story. You're better than this .

'just' bought it or just remembered that she hadn't disclosed it yet?

Why?Isnt she allowed to buy a city home, she already has a country home. This is a feeble attempt to politicise a personal decision that is not our business.

Australians struggle while our corrupt out of touch greedy MPs revel.

I mean really? Everyone knows that the best place to buy a country clothing wardrobe is in the city. It’s all in the look, forget the credibility.

Where did she get the money for that?

Nothing says Australia Day like a corrupt politician buying another multi-million dollar investment property while a generation is locked out of home ownership and over 100k Australian's are homeless... auspol

Lol at quota chicks.

The politics of envy

Who says politics doesn’t pay? In it for themselves?
